David & Selena | Engagement Portraits | Wagner, South Carolina

There were so many things about this shoot that we loved. I love that they decided to do this around David's house where he grew up. They took time to clear out a spot they both loved on the property, and it ended up being absolutely gorgeous. I love that we got to shoot at a new location (it got our creative juices flowing), and I feel like it so represented them.

Spending time with these two at this shoot, it was easy to see that they compliment each other in so many ways. It was obvious that they are so comfortable together. Whenever David comes around, you can see Selena relax and smile.

David will be graduating in May with a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Process Engineering degree.

Selena works at the Savannah River Site as a chemical engineer as well as an engineering recruiting lead.

How they met

David and Selena have known each other for about two and a half years. They first met when they got together with some friends to watch a football game. Selena remembers picking on David for wearing his Clemson hat to watch a Carolina game. Although this was their first time meeting, it was awhile before they really got to know each other.

For their first date (you guessed it), they went to a football game and dinner at Carolina Ale House.

Who said I love you first?

“We actually did a countdown so that we would say it at the same time after putting it off for a few days.”

First Kiss Story

“Once again it relates to football :D. Our first kiss happened after Hunter Renfrow made his amazing catch in the final seconds to win the National Championship game for Clemson (the first time).

Favorite thing to do together

“Definitely go to concerts, especially once it's warmed up for outdoor ones.”

Favorite Physical Attribute

“We actually have the same answer for this haha, we love each other's blue eyes.”

 Favorite Character Trait

David: “I like that she's adventurous. We find concerts, places to explore, things to do. I like going on our little adventures.”

Selena: “I like his patience and level headedness. He has an amazing ability to help me calm down and untangle all of the nerves when I get worked up or anxious; he always stays calm.”

Proposal Story

Selena: “We had decided to go to Disney World for David's final Fall Break to visit Magic Kingdom and Epcot. After a fun day exploring Magic Kingdom and riding rides, we decided to go to take pictures at the castle at sunset before heading to our dinner reservation at Be Our Guest. Right in front of the castle in the middle of everything, David got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in a truly fairytale moment with my grandmother's diamond he had reset. Afterwards we had an amazing meal in the Beauty and the Beast castle, rode some more rides, and enjoyed the beautiful firework show above it all.”

Where do you see yourselves in 10 years?

In a bigger house with 2 kids, with hopefully some more travel under our belts. Maybe another dog to join June.

Favorite part of this engagement shoot

“Twirling under the pines. From the slow dancing, to him running up behind me to pick me up it was just so fun goofing around and laughing with each other.”
