What has been the biggest challenge you've faced as a couple? And how did you overcome that challenge?
AvaGrace— “Our biggest challenge is a couple was having to learn how to love each other through sickness, and in health at the age of 20.
This past January I was hospitalized for a month and placed on two forms of the highest life support with a 3% chance of survival due to respiratory failure, and pneumonia. The doctors never gave me a chance, and placed me into a coma for two weeks. The doctors told Braden that if I survived, I would never be the same and I would be a grandma the rest of my life.
He proposed to me the first night they put me into a coma, and never left my side. They would not allow anyone to spend the night in my room due to me being a high-risk patient. However, he spent every single second at the hospital and slept in the waiting room. He never left my side. I always knew I wanted to marry him, but he proved so much to me the months that I spent in the hospital. He wiped my eyes, helped me learn to walk again, and held my hand through every test and needle I had to face in the hospital.”
How has your fiancé changed you?
AvaGrace— “He has made me a better person. He has shown me that no matter what we face as a couple we will always come out stronger than before.”
Braden— “She made me enjoy having company around me.”
Where do you see yourselves in 10 years?
In 10 years, we see each other building our family, having our dream jobs, and building a life together, that we are blessed with.
proposal story
AvaGrace— “He proposed to me the first night I was placed into a coma in the hospital. That is the only thing I remember, while I was in a coma.
When I woke up, I thought it was all a dream because I was not wearing an engagement ring. The funny thing is, he didn’t even have my ring yet. He placed his mom’s ring on my finger and asked me. As soon as I got out of the hospital, we started wedding planning.
We went to the Ridge at Summit Farms to see if that is where we wanted to get married. As we were looking at the mountains, he told me to turn around and when I turned back, he was on one knee.
Even though I didn’t get my ring the first time he proposed, I have the most perfect engagement story!”
