Mac + Abbee | Clemson, South Carolina | Engagement Session

Mac works with Blue Ridge Electric Co-op, and Abby works for Clemson University Cooperative Extension as a Youth Livestock Program Assistant Coordinator. She started with Clemson after getting her Master’s from Clemson.

The two of them have known each other their whole lives through family, but started actually hanging out after Mac and Abbee’s brother became good friends after high school. But then Abbee moved away to Oklahoma for college and the two lost touch. When Abbee came back to Clemson to get her Master’s degree, it was meant to be, and they again reconnected through friends and have been together ever since!

Who said I love you first?

Abbee — “We were having dinner with family and friends over at Macs’ parents house. We were all sitting around talking and waiting for supper to finish up. Everyone had got up and walked away, and then Mac looked at me and told me he had to tell me something. I thought, ‘ah man, here we go,’ I knew he was too good for me! Then he started telling me everything he loved about me, and finished with, ‘I love you, and I am in love with you.’ I was completely caught off guard, so you can imagine I was in shock. But, in that moment I knew that I loved, and was in love with him also! It is really hard to explain what people mean when they say, when you know, you know. Neither of us really understood it until we started dating!”

What did you do on your first date?

Our first official date was to see the movie Wrath of Man. We had been hanging out for awhile before that, but that night would definitely be what we consider a first date!

Favorite thing you like to do together...

Our favorite things to do is spend time with friends and family, and also eat! Food is our favorite!

Where do you see yourselves in 10 years?

In ten years we would like to see ourselves with one or two kids and just being happy with our jobs, life, and family. We do not need much in life, but mainly our support system and each other. If we have those things, we will be very successful and happy in 10 years, and that’s all we can dream or hope for!

What’s your proposal story?

Abbee — “I love to tell this! We were on our family beach trip back in September, and we had just got down there that Saturday. Little did I know, that the next day Mac was with the boys, asking my parents for permission to marry me. On that Monday, September 6, Mac and I woke up to go on a morning run, and then we went and got some donuts (I know right, nutrition lol). We came back to the house and got ready to go to the beach. After sitting out on the beach for awhile, I went back up to the house to relax for the rest of the afternoon. Everyone was acting so normal that day when we look back on it, I never knew anything was going on! We had planned to take family pictures that night, so everyone came back to the house to get ready. Once we were all ready, we headed down to the beach to take pictures. Our really good friend, Dalton, is a photographer, and so he was setting myself, Mac, and my parents up for a family picture. They were all positioned behind me, and then Dalton told my parents to move over just a tad, and for me to turn around to see where everyone was. I never thought that when I would turn around Mac would be on one knee! But, there he was! It was something that neither one of us will forget, and we are both so happy that we could share that special moment with our family and best friends!”
