proposal story
We were in Nebraska at the Pitzer Ranch horse sale. When we got there on Monday night, we pulled out the grill to cook hamburgers for supper. Matthew made the comment that his mom wanted a picture of us with the sunset. At first I was thinking, that’s weird, but I said okay. After we got done cooking the sun had already went down, so I didn’t think much more of it. The next two days passed, and on Thursday there wasn’t much going on at the ranch, so we rode up to South Dakota and back. When we got back to the ranch Matthew said, “Come on, let’s go for a ride.” We went about 10 miles down this dirt road with open fields on each side, and Matthew said, “This looks like a good place to take a picture.”
We got out of the truck, and he put his phone up on the truck on video (smart thinking after the fact) to take our picture. I said, “Why don’t you just put it on a timer instead of having to screenshot the picture from the video.” Of course, Matthew says, “Nah, I’m just going to do it like this.” We walk out and stood there, and I counted to 3, and we took our picture. Matthew says, “Go look and make sure it took it.” I’m thinking in the back of my head why do I have to, you had it on video, of course we got it. I got right to the phone to look, and Matthew whistles and I turn around and he is down on one knee.” —Caitlin
