How long was your engagement?
A long six months.
Where did you get married?
We got married at Ashley's parents home; it had always been a dream of hers.
Tell us about the moment you seen each other for the first time on your wedding day.
Our first look was at the place that we got engaged. It felt like the crux of our wedding day (besides the fact of actually getting married of course), because we hadn’t seen each other all morning; it was the start of all the big things of the day :)
Ashley, describe your husband on your wedding day.
I was so excited to see him; I knew he'd look so fine ;) When I saw him it just felt right, knowing that we were promising ourselves to each other. He looked so handsome in his navy suit; his darker complexion looked really good with that color.
Dominic, describe your wife on your wedding day.
She was gorgeous. Her white dress looked so good on her, and I felt very lucky to be the one holding her that day. She was also very happy, which made her that much more beautiful.
Were there any rituals, traditions, or sentiments that were part of your wedding? If so, can you tell us about them?
The bridal party dined on my mom's wedding China, while we dined on my grandma's wedding China. The candlestick that held the unity candle had been my grandmother’s also, while the doily underneath had been made by my other grandma and gifted to me.
What were the top 5 moments of your wedding day?
First look with our notes for each other.
Standing by the dining room window and watching the guests interact before we were introduced at the reception.
The overwhelming feeling of gratefulness for everyone who came, and everyone who put so much work into making our dreams come true.
Listening to the open mic.
Running through the sparkler exit
Were there any moments that made you cry?
Ashley: “I cried at my first look with my bridesmaids, and again at my first look with my dad, and then at our first look while we were reading our letters.”
Dominic: “I was too happy to cry :)”
Most weddings never go quite as planned. Was there a blooper or “oops” moment at your wedding?
My dress got caught on EVERYTHING, including barbed wire. Not sure how you would change that though... The keys got displaced when we were in the truck ready to leave, leaving Dominic pretty frustrated until he found them. Our recessional song didn’t play until we were already out from the ceremony.
Is there a story to the song you picked for your first dance?
Not really, its just a song we both liked.
What was your best memory from your wedding day?
The reception and the fireworks and sparkler exit were so dreamy. It was amazing!
Describe newlywed life in three words.
Relaxing. Amazing. Exciting.
