How long was your engagement?

7 months!

Where did you get married?

First Baptist Church Spartanburg. It was so special because it is the same place that my (Bailey's) Grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles got married.

Tell us about the moment you seen each other for the first time on your wedding day

Bailey: We did a first look in the sanctuary, and I walked down the isle to him. It was so sweet and so fun! Luke could not stop encouraging me and telling me how much he loved my dress, and hair, and makeup.

Luke: It was helpful to have that first look to take it all in and tell each other how excited and nervous we were before the ceremony. I could not stop smiling. Whenever I got to first see her it calmed me down and made me more excited for the wedding. I couldn't wait to be her husband!

Bailey, Describe your husband on your wedding day.

Handsome and so caring! He looked awesome in that tux and spent the whole day (after the first look) by my side making sure I was not overwhelmed by all the people and events.

Luke, Describe your wife on your wedding day.

So pretty when I got to see her in her dress for the first time. I loved everything about the dress and the hair and it looked so complicated, but it was so amazing. It looked exactly like something she would choose, and I could not stop smiling.

Were there any rituals, traditions, or sentiments that were part of your wedding? If so, can you tell us about them?

Bailey: There were! My Mom and I "got ready" in front of the same mirror that my mom and her mom got ready at in the parlor outside of the FBC Spartanburg's chapel. On my grandmother's wedding day over 50 years ago, my Great grandmother (Mammy) and my Mema did the same. Also, I had two of my college roommates and bridesmaids sing in the ceremony. This was extremely meaningful to me as I got to hear the both of them sing and play piano often when they lived with me for 3 years. So many sweet memories tied to hearing them both sing worship music, so that was just super special to both me and Luke.

What were the top 5 moments of your wedding day?

Bailey: I can't choose them in order so I'm listed them in the order that they happened rather than in order of top favorite if that makes any sense? 1. Breakfast (it was so fun to have extended family and wedding party join me in presidential suite for breakfast. Just a sweet start to a great day!) 2. Getting ready. I loved having all of my closest friends and my parents and sisters around me while I got may hair and makeup done. It was such an encouraging and sweet time! I LOVED Timeless Hairstyles and recommend them! They fit right in with my bridesmaids and did an AMAZING job. 3. The first few moments of the first look. Luke could not stop saying sweet things about how beautiful I was and about how good I did in picking out my dress and accessories. Literally so precious! 4. The 30 minutes leading up to Ceremony....... I got to hang out and "play" hide and seek with my five little kiddos that were in the wedding. I told everyone that the kids would be my favorite part of the wedding and that remains to be pretty true. It calmed my nerves and made me so happy to have all of them having such a fun time and enjoying every little part along with me and their parents. 5. My bridesmaids taking time to pray over me and (Luke and my future) right before we went out to walk down the isle! Meant so much to me!

Luke: 1. Seeing each other at the first look! 2. walking out of the ceremony knowing we were married and the nervous part was over 3. Addie and Aslyn singing during Unity Candle 4. Dancing was so fun! 5. Breakfast with bridal party and extended family that morning was so fun!

Were there any moments that made you cry?

Luke: No, I’m not a happy crier! I just couldn't stop smiling!

Bailey: Yes! There were two quick moments. One when I first hugged Luke during the first look and he was being such a cheerleader. The second moment was when my Dad spoke to both mine and Luke's walk with Christ during the ceremony.

Most weddings never go quite as planned. Was there a blooper or “oops” moment at your wedding?

Nothing huge! I know we were both thankful by how calm everyone was leading up to the ceremony and beyond! We felt so taken care of, and I know Luke was a little nervous, but honestly I just had a great time and felt thankful and blessed! I know one small thing was one of my ring bearers lost his bowtie the morning of. His Mom texted me, and they were both so upset about it! I told them it was no big deal at all, but they chose to go and buy one so my ring bearers were wearing two different bow ties- but it looked great haha!

Is there a story to the song you picked for your first dance?

The song we chose for our first dance was, When I Say I Do, by Matthew West. Luke showed it to me almost a year before the wedding, and we would listen to it all the time. It really signifies the promise we made to each other that day!

What was your best memory from your wedding day?

We were both talking, and I think one of our most favorite memories was how intentional my (Bailey's) Dad was as one of the officiants at the ceremony. We loved how he talked about Luke's asking for my hand in marriage and how he saw that Christ was at the center of Luke's life. It meant a lot to both of us!
