Jason + Justina | Events at Judson Mill Wedding

How long was your engagement?

Almost exactly one year! Engaged on May 20, 2023, married on May 4, 2024.

Where did you get married?

Judson Mill in Greenville, SC.

Tell us about the moment you seen each other for the first time on your wedding day (either your first look or when walking down the aisle).

For Justina: It was very out of body! I was trying very hard to take it all in and remain present, but it is still kind of dreamy-blurry in my mind just because it was so much! I just remember seeing Jason's huge smile and seeing how handsome he looked and I just felt overcome with happiness.

For Jason: It was very sweet. While walking around the venue earlier in the day, my groomsmen were (jokingly) going out of their way to keep me from seeing her in case she was in the hallway. They were acting like secret service, going ahead of me, telling me to hold, okaying me to walk when things were "clear." This was funny, but it also made me anticipate seeing her even more. So when I saw her walk down the aisle I was very happy to see her and very taken. She was beautiful and being very cute as she sorta danced while walking down the aisle which made me laugh. I was very happy to see her.

(Bride) Describe your husband on your wedding day.

He was SO happy!! He seemed so in his element and ready to party and live it up with all our friends and family! He was emotional during vows (I knew he would be!!!) and he was just having FUN. Did you see that guitar solo? Oh, and he looked VERY handsome. He rented his suit but then made the decision to purchase it after the wedding, and that's a good thing!

(Groom) Describe your wife on your wedding day.

Aside from being stunningly beautiful (something I'm pretty used to) she was so joyful. She was glowing! I feel like every moment I think of her that day is one where she's smiling and having a lovely time. It was such a magical experience for everyone, but I really got a sense that it was magical for Justina, too.

Were there any rituals, traditions, or sentiments that were part of your wedding? If so, can you tell us about them?

No rituals or traditions, but we feel like there were sentimental things that were present like our community, our respect to Prince (hence purple being a big part of the design), and celebrating our talented friends by having them perform during the reception. It was a big love fest.

What were the top 5 moments of your wedding day?

This is so TOUGH! Truly so many moments were amazing, but here are 5 in no particular order: Jason's Purple Rain guitar solo. Reading our vows and hearing each other's vows for the first time. Looking around the room and seeing all of these people from different periods of our lives in the same room. The toasts from the Best Man and two Bridesmaids. Us both doing splits when we were dancing.

Were there any moments that made you cry?

Justina: No. Just feeling too happy!

Jason: I got emotional reading my vows, but I didn't cry. I think I teared up (with happy tears) more after the weekend when I was processing the wedding week.

Most weddings never go quite as planned. Was there a blooper or “oops” moment at your wedding?

Literally nothing. It was the perfect day. Any "mistakes" are part of what made the day perfect.

Is there a story to the song you picked for your first dance?

It was meant to be because we both separately thought of it as our first dance song. Unbeknownst to Jason, he had written in his vows that he is at home when he is with Justina. He didn't realize when he wrote that in his vows that one of the lyrics of the song was, "She makes me feel at home."

What was your best memory from your wedding day?

Jason: When Justina said, "We did it, baby!"

Justina: (Fondly) Our ceremony!
