Nick + Amber | Engagement Portraits

Tell us a little about yourselves as individuals: What is your careers/professions?

I give horseback riding lessons and Nick manages the service department for a John Deere dealer in Williamston.

How long have you known each other?

We have known each other since July of 2025, so 11 months now.

What was life like before you met compared to now?

It was bland, boring, and unadventurous. Now it is a constant state of love and excitement!

How did you meet? And what was your first impressions of each other?

We met through some mutual friends on the lake. Nick ended up accidentally pouring margarita up my nose... so I would say we had a very fun first impression overall. He was on the boat and I was in the water, and we will just say that the hand eye coordination was not the best.

When you first met, what attracted you most?

Nick's sense of humor and easy conversation
Amber's intelligence and independence

Who said I love you first?

Nick

What did you do on your first date?

We made homemade ditalini pasta and vodka sauce at Nick's house. We were supposed to go out line dancing but I wasn't feeling well and Nick was so nice about it. We pivoted and stayed in, and it was wonderful. We were able to really talk and spend some quality time getting to know each other and I really valued that and how close it brought us.

Favorite thing you like to do together...

We love to cook and eat together. Nick is really creative in the kitchen and we are always making new things! Honestly, it doesn't matter what we are doing, it is always so fun. Whether it is cooking and eating, going on marketplace adventures, or doing chores around the barn, I think we make everything fun! We also went on a mission trip together a week ago and that was so much fun to do together! I foresee more of those trips in our future and I am excited for that!

Number one physical quality?

I love Nick's eyes.
Nick says his favorite is my smile.

Number one character trait?

I still love Nick's sense of humor, and how caring and intentional he is.
Nick says he loves how genuine I am, but a close second is how hard headed I am...

What has been the biggest challenge you've faced as a couple? And how did you overcome that challenge?

We struggle with time management. We are both so busy and have lots of commitments it is hard to make everything happen. But we have talked about it a lot and are trying to just not over commit ourselves as much and be more intentional, knowing when to say no to things.

How has your fiancé changed you?

Nick says I have made him kinder and I would say that he has made me more light hearted.

Where do you see yourselves in 10 years?

We see ourselves having started a family and continuing to build a life full of love and joy. I will still be competing with my horses, and maybe we will have some land that Nick can farm small stuff, or have a garden to cook from. We both have a passion for traveling so I would hope in 10 years we have been to a few places, maybe Germany, Italy, Portugal, and maybe some of the national parks out west too!

What’s your proposal story?

Nick did it in a pasture where I keep some horses. When we first started dating there was a really pretty group of trees and we had both said it would be fun to have a picnic under or something one day. He ended up surprising me by being home from work early, blindfolded me, and took me down there. He had the cutest arch and rug set up, and I loved it. He referenced when we first met, and it was so heartfelt and fun. I know it was stressful for him trying to keep it a secret and make it a surprise, but he did so good and I am so grateful for the person he is and all the hard work he put into it! It was an easy yes and I was giddy for days afterward!
