It’s wedding week for Summer and Jody! We are soooo excited for this week to finally be here, and are kickin’ it off by sharing our favorites from their engagement session + the fun details of their relationship! So keep scrolling!!

How long have you known each other?

We will have known each other three years in November.

Tell us a little about yourselves

Summer: “I do a little bit of everything. I work with a non profit as a supervisor for a home visiting program, and then of course, I also run a photography business with my sisters!”

Jody: “I've been in the automotive industry for forever, no joke- like 18 years. I currently work as a service advisor for a dealership.

Who said I love you first?

Jody did! He said it several times before I would say it back. Those first few times, he would always say it at times when it was hard for me to hear what he said, so I would just pretend not to hear him.

What did you do on your first date?

We went to the movies! And that was it haha!

Favorite thing you like to do together...

We enjoy day trips to small little towns that we have never been to, and spending the day exploring and eating good food.

favorite physical attribute

Jody: “Summer's hair, because its curly.”

Summer: “His eyes and his smile. He smiles a lot, and I noticed that from the first time we met.

first kiss story

Nothing spectacular.  We spent the day in the mountains, and I could tell he wanted to kiss me, but I did not give him the chance. But, when we got back for him to get his truck, he went in for one, and I let him.

favorite character trait

Jody: "I like everything about her. I don't like this question, this is a women's question. I like that she is willing to help anyone with anything, even though I don't want to help them."

Summer: “Jody's sense of humor and always wanting to have a good time. I also love the amazing dad he is.”

Where do you see yourselves in 10 years?

Jody: "Happily married. I'll be forty and going through mid-life crisis, there is no telling!"

Summer: “Living our best life! Maybe a few more kids, owning another business, and spending our free time camping.”

proposal story

He had the ring for six months before he proposed! But, he was being nice and said he did not want to steel my other sisters thunder (they had some big milestones coming up). We were in Charleston for the 4th of July and got in really late on a Thursday night. Jody came into my room and woke me up at 5 AM the next morning and said we were going to the beach to see the sunrise. Just a few things to note before you continue reading... 1) I am not a morning person. 2) They were calling for rain that morning…. and he wanted to watch the sunrise.

When I asked him if he had even looked outside to see if it was raining, his response was, "no," and, “we are going anyway.” We got there and walked out on the beach. It was misting, and there was no sunrise, but we walked out on the beach anyway. After standing out there for a bit (watching the mist meet the ocean), he suggested we leave and drive further down the beach. As we were walking back to the truck, he told me to turn around, and he was on one knee. AnnaLeigh was with us, and snapped a few pictures. We were all so happy, but oh it was so early and everything was still closed, so we went to Waffle House to eat and celebrate!
