Harley & Cody Engagement Session | Anderson, South Carolina
How did you meet?
Cody and I grew up together- we have known each other pretty much our whole lives! My aunt and Cody's mom were close friends, so Cody would be over at my cousin's house when we were kids, and we would all play together. Ever since I was little, I have always thought that Cody was the absolute cutest thing ever, so when we first started talking - I was ecstatic.
Tell us a little about you
I am a senior at Southern Wesleyan University as an early childhood education major. I am expected to graduate in May of 2022, and I will then go on to teach that following school year. Teaching is completely a passion for me, and I can't wait to be in the classroom!
Cody is currently working with his dad at Gibson Paving, they pave anything from driveways to parking lots!
Who said I love you first?
It has been over seven years ago, so I can't really remember. It was probably Cody - although, I knew I'd love him from day one.
What did you do on your first date?
On our first real date, he took me to the Westminster Mud Bog. He picked me up and we took off to Westminster. I was 14 at the time, so I was so nervous but Cody has always made me feel so comfortable. We had so much fun, and as redneck as it sounds, we spent several of our dates at the mud bogs. I loved watching him race.
Favorite thing you like to do together...
We love to go to the lake! Pretty much every weekend during the summer months you can find us on the boat on Lake Hartwell. Cody loves to do anything on the water from tubing to wake surfing. I love to just watch him have fun.
What is your favorite physical attribute?
My favorite physical attribute about Cody is his eyes. He has pretty blue eyes that just melt my heart.
Cody’s favorite physical attribute about me is my smile. :)
Do you have a first kiss story?
Our first kiss was just simple. He came over to my house to hang out, and when he left he just kissed me. It was everything I had been waiting for, my childhood crush - finally my boyfriend. :)
What is your favorite character trait?
My favorite character trait about Cody is his huge heart. He is one of the best people I have ever met. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, and I love that about him.
Cody’s favorite character trait about me is that I am a goof ball, which is probably true. He brings out the best in me.
Where do you see yourselves in 10 years?
10 years from now I see Cody and I living our best life. Hopefully by then we have a couple kiddos, having our dream careers and soaking it all in.
What’s your proposal story?
We go to Pigeon Forge every year on Christmas day to stay for a few days. My family had already traveled up there and got the hotel rooms, and were just waiting around for me and Cody, and my brother and my sister-in-law to make it up there after a couple family dinners. When we finally made it up to Pigeon Forge, we ate dinner at JT Hannah's. By this time it was already about 11 pm, my brother and sister-in-law still hadn't made it up there yet, which was bad because Brody had the ring (which Cody had snuck him that morning, and I had no idea). Finally, they got to the Island around midnight, and I didn't think anything of it because my mom wanted a family picture at the Christmas tree. Cody and my brother went off to the bathroom (so Cody could get the ring). They came back, and we took our family picture. Cody knowing how I am, knew I was going to want to take pictures of him and I, so when we started taking pictures I wanted a different spot. I walked away, and my whole family had their phones out taking pictures and videos, and I was still absolutely clueless. They all kept saying, "turn around, turn around!" and sure enough, as soon as I did, Cody was down on one knee. If you know me, you know how dramatic I was right then. We had been together 5 years at that time, and I still had no idea it was coming, I was completely surprised. It was perfect.
