Ryan + Lauren | Greenville South Carolina Wedding

Laura and Ryan had the sweetest two day wedding celebration in late April! Their ceremony was held at Rock Quarry Garden in Greenville, SC on Friday, April 22nd, and followed with a gorgeous reception at Think Tank Brew Lab on Saturday. We so enjoyed getting to know these two special people! It was an honor to be a part of their celebration! Keep reading to find out more about their love story and see our favorites from their wedding weekend!

Ryan is an engineering manager for a company that makes power tools in the upstate. Laura is a freelancer who specializes in project management and frontend development. She also runs a small blog called Musings of a Rover.

Laura and Ryan met in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ryan worked with Laura’s sister and the two became friends. After Laura graduated from collage, she decided to move in with her sister and went to visit a couple of times over the summer before she moved in. Laura met Ryan during one of those visits, and the two of them kept in contact until she moved there. The week Laura moved to Pittsburgh, Ryan asked her out! And they’ve been together for the 12 years since then!

WHO SAID I LOVE YOU FIRST

Ryan did!

WHAT DID YOU DO ON YOUR FIRST DATE?

Laura— ”I have a love for movies, and so he took me out to see Inception in theaters. Afterward we went to an Irish bar for a few drinks until they closed, then he drove me around Pittsburgh. I remember making stops at the University of Pittsburgh and then at the conservatory where we sat on the steps of a statue for a long time.”

FAVORITE THING TO DO TOGETHER

We like to go out on Lake Hartwell & Lake Jocassee on our boat during the summer months. We also enjoy hiking and camping together.

FIRST KISS STORY

Laura— “During our whole first date there were several moments where I thought we might kiss but he never made the move. So when we arrived back to my apartment, I didn't think it would happen. After we hugged and he went in for a kiss, I was stunned and was caught off guard. We still joke about how startled I was!”

FAVORITE CHARACTER TRAIT

Laura— “I love Ryan's kindness and supportive, understanding nature. And when we go on trips together, he's often the calming presence during stressful transit moments that helps us stay focused on the big picture.”

Ryan— “I love Laura’s sense of adventure and love of travel.”

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELVES IN 10 YEARS?

We're not sure! We may or may not be in Greenville, may or may not have the same careers, may or may not have children. But we're excited to see where life will take us!

WHAT’S YOUR PROPOSAL STORY?

Laura— “We were in Germany during December of 2018. The trip was focused around visiting several small German towns and their Christmas markets. One stop was at Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a German town in northern Bavaria known for its medieval architecture. Think half-timbered houses, cobblestone lanes, and a mostly intact medieval town wall with preserved gatehouses and towers. I was so excited to see the town as I love European medieval history. We toured the city all day and Ryan was nervous because I kept sticking my hands on his coat pockets to get warm (and he had the ring in one of them). But I never suspected until it started to near sunset. Ryan then let it slip that maybe we should head to the romantic covered bridge we had seen earlier. I remember thinking..."omg is he going to propose?" Instead of the bridge, we ended up going to the ruins of this old fort that overlooked the city and had a gorgeous view. Ryan was then all flustered because there were these two girls taking pictures and he wanted them to leave. Eventually they did and he proposed!”
