Where did you get married?
Yo mamas house — jk. The Bridgeway Station in Simpsonville, SC
Tell us about the moment you seen each other for the first time on your wedding day (either your first look or when walking down the aisle).
It felt so surreal. All the nerves disappeared and it just felt right—we couldn’t stop smiling (Meghan)
Describe your husband on your wedding day.
Seeing him standing there in his suit — he just looked so handsome. He was beaming from ear to ear and I could see the excitement in his eyes. What stood out most was how full of joy and love he was.
Describe your wife on your wedding day.
From the moment I turned around for the first look, I thought she was breath taking. She had a beautiful smile and held herself with such confidence. I loved seeing her happy and in the moment.
What were the top 5 moments of your wedding day?
1. Getting ready because it set the tone for the start of the day
2. The first look and vow reading because it was an intimate moment for just the two of us— time slowed down for a moment
3. The pictures. Because we got to be our goofy selves but also show our love through them
4. Walking down the aisle— we wish we could replay that moment
5. The after party— always a great time celebrating with our loved ones
Were there any moments that made you cry?
Meghan - In the morning, when my soon to be husband said “I’ve been waiting my whole life for this. To marry the woman of my dreams.” Literally started crying. So sweet. But also, walking down the aisle for me — it seemed like with the music and the ambience, everything hit me at once.
Matt — reading the vows, had to catch myself I was getting choked up. It was an overwhelming flow of emotions — was truly so happy.
Most weddings never go quite as planned. Was there a blooper or “oops” moment at your wedding?
To be honest, no. Nothing really worth noting. I guess if we want to truly get into the details of things, we forgot the linen that goes on the arbor back at the hotel. But we improvised and the decor turned out even better. God was good to us that day.
Is there a story to the song you picked for your first dance?
Yes. So, we weren’t really planning on taking four years for our engagement. We had originally planned to get married back in 2022. But all things came to a halt because our relationship just took a hit. A lot of personal things arose and we realized it was more important to focus on bettering ourselves for relationship and for the lifelong marriage we longed for. So the song we chose— “You’re still the one” by Shania Twain was perfect. It reminds us about the importance of lasting love and resilience in relationships —it gave us the feeling of having reached a point where Matt and I can look back and affirm that our bond has stood strong despite doubts, challenges, or outside voices. What should have broken us in the past, it only made us stronger for ourselves and each other.
What was your best memory from your wedding day?
Meghan - Our first dance. I just loved having the moment with my love
Matt - Hearing “I now pronounce you husband and wife.”
Describe newlywed life in three words.
Meghan - Intentional, every day
Matt - Such an adventure
