Brodie +Kristi | The Ridge at Summit Farms
How long was your engagement?
We were engaged from February 15th to September 6th so 6 months and 22 days
Tell us about the moment you seen each other for the first time on your wedding day.
Brodie: “The first moment seeing each other was when Kristi walked down the aisle. It was a moment that was building up since the day we got engaged. The first time I got to see her wedding dress and her the whole day was when she was walking down the aisle. There was a lot of anticipation, excitement, and some tears. I have dreamed of that moment for so long and it did not disappoint.”
Kristi: “As Brodie said, it was when I walked down the aisle! I loved locking eyes with him and seeing him hold back his tears as I walked towards him. There was a lot of emotion seeing Brodie and his reaction to my dress, realizing I was walking down the aisle on our wedding day, what a big moment that is, and getting excited to see all the familiar faces I was walking past.”
Describe your husband on your wedding day.
I loved that we exchanged gifts without seeing each other before our ceremony. It was a special moment and I could hear the excitement and nerves in his voice. Once I finally got to see him face to face, it was adorable seeing him doing his best to hold back tears during the ceremony and have his eyes locked on me the whole time. I could see the joy in his eye during the ceremony and then we both relaxed after and had so much fun the rest of the day!
Describe your wife on your wedding day.
She was absolutely beautiful! I could see the joy and happiness in her eyes as we stood there staring at each other. She was holding tears back when saying the vows as we spent hours on them and they meant so much to each other. After the ceremony the joy of taking pictures with her and her realizing we are married and she’s my wife. Her eyes were locked in on me when we danced by ourselves in the venue while everyone was outside waiting and the realization we were about to leave and start our lives together.
Were there any rituals, traditions, or sentiments that were part of your wedding? If so, can you tell us about them?
The ropes we tied together during our ceremony were really special to us as Christians and the union we were making with each other and Jesus. Brodie’s brother made the cross with the ropes so it was extra special to involve him in that way. Also, we took communion to signify our role in the body of Christ.
What were the top 5 moments of your wedding day?
When we went outside to look at the amazing sunset while realizing we are married and turning around and seeing all of our family and friends outside; Saying our vows at the altar; Hearing Mr. & Mrs. Brodie Monroe Cox for the first time; Seeing all of our planning come together; Taking photos and driving off in the truck
Were there any moments that made you cry?
Kristi: “Saying our vows.”
Brodie: “Watching my beautiful bride come out the doors and walk down the aisle.”
Most weddings never go quite as planned. Was there a blooper or “oops” moment at your wedding?
We thought we brought our marriage license but it ended up being the wrong papers and our house was 30 minutes away. Thankfully, Brodie’s aunt was available and at the venue so she borrowed Brodie’s truck and made a last second run to get it just in time before the ceremony started.
Is there a story to the song you picked for your first dance?
Yes! Brodie helped Kristi move out of her apartment a few months into dating and Brodie could tell Kristi was getting pretty stressed about it. To lighten the moment, Brodie stopped the moving process and got Kristi to start dancing with him in her kitchen to “More of You” by Chris Stapleton. It ended up being a very special moment for both of them so it became their first dance song!
What was your favorite photograph
The sunset photos! They were at the end of the night and we were both so carefree by then that it was so fun! (Summer laying on the ground at the end to get the perfect angle was great!)
What was your best memory from your wedding day?
The moment of us staring out at the mountains looking at the sunset and then turning around seeing all of our family and friends enjoying the same view all the while realizing we were finally married!
