Drew and Kensleigh | Wedding Day | The Ridge at Summit Farms
How long was your engagement?
10 Months!!
Tell us about the moment you seen each other for the first time on your wedding day
Drew was crying when I was standing behind him before we even saw each other. I was so anxious because I had been wanting to see him all day and I wanted him to finally see my dress! He said that the only thing he could think when we saw each other was, "Wow!" It was such a great moment for us because it gave us an intimate moment with each other before all the crazy started!
kensleigh, Describe your husband on your wedding day
I have never seen Drew as happy as he was that day. He just was beaming with a smile at all times! He was the most handsome man I have ever seen! He was so relaxed after the first look, it just helped me stay calm! I remember while I was getting ready my florist came upstairs and showed me a picture of him standing out on the patio just pondering everything, and I just started crying because I knew that our day was going to be perfect, and I was marrying the best man.
Drew, describe your wife on your wedding day
She was beyond stunning. I remember sobbing before we even had our first look. When she tapped me on the shoulder and I turned around, I almost fell to my knees and could not stop crying. All I could think is, "Wow, I get to spend the rest of my life with perfection." She was also surprisingly calm (at least from what I saw). She handled everything so well, and even laughed off the mishaps. It was truly the best day ever with the best wife ever.
Were there any rituals, traditions, or sentiments that were part of your wedding?
We had a memory table at our table because we had some family members that have left this earth, but we still wanted to recognize as there. We also included some family members that couldn't attend due to COVID.
What were the top 5 moments of your wedding day?
1. First Look 2. Last Dance before we left by ourselves 3. When we got introduced as the Waters instead of the Durhams 4. Dances with family 5. Generational Dance
Were there any moments that made you cry?
Kensleigh: “The first look made us both tear up. I think that the mother son moment was a big tear jerker for everyone. The moment with my mom in the bridal sweet. The first look with my dad, and my dance with my papa.”
Most weddings never go quite as planned. Was there a blooper or “oops” moment at your wedding?
Kensleigh: “We heard later that the cake plate broke. Also our officiant was Drew's grandpa, and he announced us as my last name instead of the Dunham's. I also put Drews ring on the wrong finger because I thought his left was also my left LOL!”
Is there a story to the song you picked for your first dance?
We both love George Strait, and I remember we were watching pure country, and that was when we agreed that when we got married that was our song.
What was your best memory from your wedding day?
The last dance before we left was our favorite because it felt like the longest time of just us together to have a moment to celebrate the day.
