Mason & Emily | Greenville Center for Creative Arts

How long was your engagement?

We were engaged for about a year. We got engaged in November 2024 and got married October 2025.

Where did you get married?

We got married at the Greenville Center for Creative Arts.

Tell us about the moment you seen each other for the first time on your wedding day (either your first look or when walking down the aisle).

Mason looked extremely handsome, Emily radiant, but seeing each other for the first time was special, because it was just us - the two dorky kids who met each other in a Moes and never looked back, this time with better outfits, but just the same us.

(Bride) Describe your husband on your wedding day.

Mason was and always is the life of the party, the one always on the dance floor, himself and happy.

(Groom) Describe your wife on your wedding day.

Emily’s intentionality and care that she puts into every relationship she has (from family to friends she has had since daycare) was on full display. Every time I turned around she was talking to someone different lighting up that part of the room.

Were there any rituals, traditions, or sentiments that were part of your wedding? If so, can you tell us about them?

Emily had a charm of an African Violet on her bouquet for her grandmother who passed away a few years ago. She loved plants and always kept our flowers alive at home. When she died, we propagated her African Violet, and amazingly, everyone in the family has managed to keep theirs alive over the years.

What were the top 5 moments of your wedding day?

1. Bringing our friends and family across the country together in one spot was really special. Mason being from California, and Emily from North Carolina, our families have never really had the opportunity to spend much time together. 2. We love the Brick Street Cafe Sweet Potato cake!! 3. Two and a half hours of hard-core, fast-paced, sweat through all your clothes dancing. 4. Marrying my best friend! 5. Emily’s dad’s speech (which was a bit of a wild-card because he is a man of little words) but was so sweet.

Were there any moments that made you cry?

During the rehearsal, Mason’s mom, sister, and Emily’s maid of honor all started balling and it really got to Mason. Emily started tearing up during her dad’s speech.

Most weddings never go quite as planned. Was there a blooper or “oops” moment at your wedding?

We miscalculated the amount of plates needed and ordered only half as many, but luckily, plates are fairly easy to come by and Mason’s mom found a quick option to pick up.

Is there a story to the song you picked for your first dance?

Our song has always been “Strawberries” by Caamp, but when we were practicing beforehand, Emily couldn’t stop cracking up because Mason is not adept at slow dancing… so we pivoted to “26” by Caamp and decided to throw in some swing dance moves we learned at Furman when we first started dating. We know exactly four different steps, but it was so fun and so us.

What was your best memory from your wedding day?

Our best memory was walking down the aisle together after our ceremony, because the rest of the day was an awesome party, but this was the moment we were married.

Describe newlywed life in three words.

“Stuck with me”.
